Saurabh Vijay is a remote sensing expert observing glacier changes in high-mountain Asia, Alaska and Greenland over different time scales. For instance, he employed TanDEM-X, German space-borne radar mission, to study glacier mass changes in the Himalaya-Karakoram during 2000-12, estimated regional glacier mass changes and investigated the role of supraglacial features (debris, lakes and ice cliffs) on glacier elevation and mass changes.

He also uses remote sensing data (e.g. Sentinel-1) to quantify the seasonal ice dynamics of marine-terminating glaciers of Alaska and Greenland, and investigate the roles of system inherent and external factors driving such seasonal changes.
