BPCRC Winter Seminar: Antarctic Ice Sheet Evolution and the Earth Climate

This seminar will focus on climate response to distinct configurations of the Antarctic Ice Sheet based upon modeling experiments simulating the mid-Miocene interval (23-17Ma). Moreover, it will address the large-scale climate anomalies induced by the retreat of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS). Generic sensitivity tests of the global response to a smaller WAIS, as presented here, have relevance to both past interglacials when WAIS retreated and possibly to the future when WAIS will be affected by anthropogenic forcing.
