Understanding the Production of Local Knowledge to Address Global Environmental Change: Leveraging the Case of Bolivian Aymara Expert FarmersThe Geography Speaker Series Presents: Dr. Julio Postigo from the Dept. of Geography, Indiana UniversityAbstract: Scientists and policy-makers increasingly recognize that multi-sourced knowledge matters to respond to global climate change. This talk presents Aymara farmers’ local knowledge production system—which synthesizes Indigenous knowledge, positivist science, and local wisdom—to demonstrate its value to identifying effective strategies that promote adaptation to climate change. I also discuss its implications for knowledge co-production and policy making.
