Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. A Tree-riffic Mapping Event

Ohio State Oval in Spring
April 21, 2023
11:00 am - 12:30 pm
18th Avenue Library, Room 350

Did you know that there are more than 17,000 trees planted across Ohio State's Columbus campus? Not only that, more than 1,000 new trees have been planted in the last few years, and many of these trees have not yet made it into our official campus planning datasets.

To celebrate Earth Day 2023 join University Libraries with A Tree-riffic Mapping Event! During this program, participants will:

  • Create their Ohio State ArcGIS Online account (if necessary)
  • Learn about using ArcGIS Field Maps for mobile data collection
  • Collect tree data on the Oval and other nearby locations to support campus planning initiatives

The event begins in the Research Commons, then traveling the Oval to start field mapping and data collection. Participants are required to bring their own mobile device for campus tree data collection (Android 8.0 or later; iOS 14.5 or later).

Whether you want to learn more about mapping and GIS data collection or just enjoy a fun outdoor activity ahead of finals week, the Tree-riffic Mapping Event is for you!
