Congratulations to Forrest Schoessow: Next Generation Innovator of the Year

On April 24, 2019, the Office of Research and Corporate Engagement Office hosted the 2018 Research and Innovation Showcase to celebrate The Ohio State University's most innovative researchers. Forrest Schoessow received the Next Generation Innovator of the Year award, and presented Confronting Global Challenges through Local Collaboration.

Forrest's research focus is on advancing scientific understanding of glaciers as water resources and hazards in a rapidly changing world through the development of custom sensors and unmanned aerial systems. He approaches tackling societal problems by fusing engineering and science, driving advances in the application of aviation systems for the good of the world’s economy and environment. In 2015 Schoessow was the expedition leader and navigator of the Mississippi River Survey Expedition, conducting a human-environmental survey of the river to chronicle its historical development and impact on society and the natural world.
