The ICARP IV Summit will take place alongside the Arctic Science Summit Week (ASSW) 2025 from March 20–28, 2025, in Boulder, Colorado, USA. Hosted by the U.S. Polar Research Board and supported by leading research institutions such as the University of Colorado Boulder (UCB), CIRES, NSIDC, INSTAAR, NCAR, UCAR, and NOAA, the summit will bring together scientists, Indigenous leaders, policymakers, and research organizations to shape the future of Arctic research.
As the culmination of the Fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV) process, the summit will discuss key research priorities for the next decade, including Arctic climate dynamics, sustainability, diplomacy, Indigenous-led methodologies, education, and technological advancements. The conference will emphasize collaborative, interdisciplinary, and co-produced knowledge, serving as a milestone toward the Fifth International Polar Year (2032–33).
With a commitment to sustainability, the Conference Host Committee will explore hybrid participation options and satellite hubs to minimize the carbon footprint, ensuring accessibility for Arctic communities and international participants. The outcomes of the ICARP IV Summit will guide the next steps in Arctic research planning through 2025–2026, shaping global Arctic science initiatives.
