The American Society for Microbiology Honors Byrd Center PI Matthew Sullivan with 2026 Environmental Research Award

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) has announced its 2026 Awards and Prize Program honorees. Among the recipients is Matthew Sullivan, professor in the Departments of Microbiology and Civil, Environmental, and Geodetic Engineering at The Ohio State University, and a principal investigator at the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center, who received the ASM Award for Environmental Research.
The American Society for Microbiology (ASM), with more than 37,000 members worldwide, is one of the largest life science organizations. Its mission is to advance microbial sciences through conferences, publications, education, certifications, advocacy, and global training, while fostering collaboration across academia, industry, and clinical settings and promoting public understanding of microbiology.
This recognition honors Sullivan’s outstanding contributions to advancing microbial science and environmental research.
