Geography and Ohio State’s new BuckAI Observatory

As many of you will know, geographers are well-represented in ASC’s new BuckAI Observatory, housed in Earth Sciences and run by Joachim Moortgat (Earth Sciences). 

This week a collaborative research project involving Ohio State geographers is being featured on AGU TV at the 2025 American Geophysical Union (AGU) Annual Meeting (December 15–19). The project brings together Dr. Desheng Liu’s research group in Geography and Dr. Alex Michaud (Earth Sciences). H Rainak Khan Real, a PhD student in Geography, is center stage in the video, which also features Dr. Steven Quiring talking about the use of AI in storm modeling and prediction, among other issues.
