The Orton Geological Museum, Ohio’s first natural history museum, is celebrating its 150th anniversary during the 2024-2025 academic year. To mark this sesquicentennial milestone, the museum is unveiling refreshed exhibits in its gallery and presenting a special retrospective exhibition at Thompson Library's Special Collections Area. Titled The Orton Geological Museum, 1874-2024: A 150-year Retrospective, the exhibition runs from August 20, 2024, through February 25, 2025. It features a curated collection of rarely displayed fossils, minerals, rocks, photographs, manuscripts, publications, and artwork that narrate the museum’s journey from its inception in 1874 to its modern-day greatness.
