The Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center announces the 2015 Byrd Postdoctoral Fellows Aubrey Hillman and Julie Miller.

Dr. Hillman earned her Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh in 2015 under the supervision of Dr. Mark Abbott. While at the Byrd Center, Dr. Hillman will collaborate with Dr. Lonnie Thompson to link the paleoclimate histories from lake sediment and ice core records for improved understanding of both the Indian and South American summer monsoons.

Dr. Miller earned her Ph.D. from the University of Utah in 2015 under the supervision of Dr. Richard Forster. Dr. Miller will collaborate with Drs. Ian Howat, Kenneth Jezek, Joel Johnson and Mike Durand on the application of space-borne microwave remote sensing over snow and ice surfaces.  Her research will emphasize mapping aquifers within the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets and observing changes in these aquifers over time.

The Center was impressed by the very strong slate of candidates this year and congratulates Aubrey and Julie on their selection.
