Lonnie Thompson, a distinguished university professor at The Ohio State University School of Earth Sciences, has amazed the world with his audacious expeditions to Earth's loftiest peaks. With 70 journeys to the planet's most remote and towering landscapes, Lonnie achieved a remarkable feat: spending over four years at altitudes exceeding 18,000 feet, a record unmatched by anyone else.

The documentary "Canary," presented by Oscilloscope Laboratories and REI, chronicles Lonnie's life journey and his relentless quest to extract ice cores from the world's glaciers before they vanish. The film was skillfully directed and produced by Danny O'Malley and Alex Rivest, Ph.D., with additional production by Adam Paul Smith.
