Melting Ice Releases 15000 Year Old Viruses
There continues to be interest in research by Zhi-Ping Zhong, his colleagues, and collaborators a year after their work was published. Dr. Zhong, a microbiologist and research associate with the Ice Core Paleoclimatology Group at Byrd Center, was the first author of the study titled Glacier ice archives nearly 15,000-year-old microbes and phages, published online at Microbiome in 2021.
