Last month the Smithsonian Magazine featured an article titled "Ten Pioneering Women of Antarctica and the Places Named for Them" in honor of Women's History month. One of the pioneers featured was Lois Jones, a geochemist at the Oho State University who led the first all-woman science team to Antarctica in 1969. Jones Terrace is in the Olympus Mountain Range in eastern Antarctica's Victoria Land that was named in her honor.
