Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. Congratulations Gabo!

Gabriel Zeballos Castellon (“Gabo”) successfully defended his PhD dissertation last month. The title of Gabo’s dissertation was “Atlas of Bofedales in the Outer Tropical Andes: Spatial Distribution and Spatiotemporal Analysis.” His committee included Karina Yager (SUNY Stonybrook), Michael Durand (School of Earth Sciences), Alvaro Montenegro (Department of Geography), Desheng Liu (Department of Geography), and Bryan Mark (School of Earth Sciences), his advisor. Professor Norman Johnson in the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology served as the Graduate Faculty Representative.

Gabo will now be heading to Peru with an interdisciplinary team to conduct some National Geographic fieldwork before continuing working on research publications and presentations in Columbus and Europe in the coming months.
